In the “Data Analysis with Excel” course, users are taught how to use Microsoft Excel’s various data analysis tools to furnish the best information from any dataset. It covers the best ways to describe raw data through visualizations and charts, descriptive data functions (mean, median, mode), and other statistical functions. You’re taught how to employ conditional formatting to emphasize essential data points and to show changes in data over periods of time using Excel tools to create a dataset forecast model through trend curves.

Congressional members often need to collect abstract data and introduce it in a digestible and actionable format. For example, legislative directors and their staff need to track voting tallies and critical legislation as a proposal progresses through the lawmaking process. By using an external CRM platform that can integrate with Microsoft Excel, these staffers are capable of utilizing workbooks with macros built on numerical and text-based data points. With the imported and manipulated data, legislative staff can forecast the outcomes of crucial votes and share findings with their team.

This course is best suited to junior staffers and interns to further their understanding of Microsoft Excel, but can be relevant to team members at all levels.
